Privacy Policy

Fridge Catalogue (“the app”, “we”) helps your household track the food in your fridge, freezers, and pantry. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it. The short version: we collect only what the app needs to work.
What we collect
- Account details. Your name, email address, and sign-in credentials are handled by our authentication provider, Clerk. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from that provider.
- Household inventory data. The items, storage locations, people, and shopping lists your household creates in the app. This data is shared with the other members of your household and no one else.
- Receipt photos. When you scan a grocery receipt, the photo is sent to Anthropic’s Claude API to extract the item list, then discarded — we do not store your receipt photos. Anthropic does not use API data to train its models.
- Barcodes. Scanned barcodes are looked up against the Open Food Facts database to prefill item details. The barcode number is not stored.
- Push notification tokens. If you enable expiry alerts, we store a device token so we can deliver notifications. Disabling notifications removes it.
What we don’t do
- No use of your data for AI training — receipt parsing runs through a paid API that excludes customer data from training.
This website
This marketing site is hosted separately from the app and does not require an account. Our hosting provider may set cookies of its own for security and performance, and we may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages are read. Neither is linked to your Fridge Catalogue account or to anything in your household’s inventory.
Where your data lives
Inventory data is stored in a Turso (libSQL) database hosted in the EU (AWS eu-west-1). The app itself is hosted on Vercel. Authentication data is held by Clerk. Each of these providers processes data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account in the app. Deleting your account removes your personal data from our systems; a household’s shared inventory is deleted when its last member leaves.
Children
Fridge Catalogue is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
